STRANGER SINGS! THE PARODY MUSICAL is a hilarious ‘upside down’ take on the hit Netflix series – and all its campy 1980s glory.
Join Mike, Eleven, Lucas, Dustin, and the whole Hawkins gang for a night of adventure, thrills, pubescent angst, heavy synth, poor parenting, convoluted love triangles, cheap effects, dancing monsters, and maybe, just maybe… justice for everyone’s favorite missing ginger, Barb Holland.
What’s better than Singing…..Dancing…..and Acting…… all at the same time? Nothing! And our Summer Musical Theatre Production IS the combination of all 3 disciplines! And the ultimate goal of course is to do all this crazy hard work but blend the performance elements seamlessly and have it all look effortless! Whew!!!!
What will be involved?
MT is a ton of fun with some really cool work and learning, combining singing with dancing and acting. The co-ordination, focus, and brain power it takes and develops is amazing, and it all begins with PLAY!
Students train and perform a variety of songs, scenes, and dances from the chosen musical each summer.
Every rehearsal is a creative and vibrant exercise in flexibility and versatility.
The rehearsals vary in content and structure, allowing for specific focus on the key elements of all disciplines, from vocal training and song preparation, to movement style and choreography, to script analysis and character development, all culminating in public performance at the end of the summer!
What are dates, times and fees?
Tuesday and Thursday from 6.30pm to 9.30pm in July and August.
*plus there MAY BE additional rehearsals called late August if needed.
Public performance will take place at Ovation! in late Aug/early Sept = specifics TBA!!!
The Fee for this program is $895 + hst.
Who should apply?
We are looking for 8-10 participants from 10 to 16yrs of age, who have at least 2 years of prior singing and/or musical theatre experience, and who LOVE to perform! Students participate in an intensive curriculum designed for more dedicated young performers – we give more, we expect more! Leadership potential, self-discipline, ensemble spirit, sensitivity to others, maturity, a desire to learn, as well as dramatic ability all contribute to a student’s successful experience.
How do I apply?
Registration begins Feb 1st for current Ovation! students – you can proceed to register online! Students who are new to Ovation! are asked to CONTACT US directly for inquiries/application to this program. A meeting or mini-audition may be required for new applicants.
