O.S.S.D. Credit Courses

Over the years, Ovation! has generated a reputation as THE studio for people serious about training in the performing arts.   Our students have gone on to post-secondary arts programs at the most prestigious institutions in Canada – the University of Toronto, George Brown College, Sheridan College, York University, Ryerson University, and the National Theatre School.  We see the ability to earn high school credits as a natural way to foster that progression.  Our courses happen outside school hours, so are a flexible way for students to earn credits.

Courses are available from grades 9 to 12, and all courses meet the curriculum standards of The Education Act.   A full credit can be earned through a school year (Sept to June) through Ovation’s innovative partnership, working with Avenue Road Academy, a private school in Toronto.  Avenue Road Academy oversees the credit programs, issuing the earned credits and handling the Ministry reporting.  The Education Act mandates that a student invest 110 hours in a particular class to earn a credit.  Those hours will be earned through a combination of in-class training, rehearsing, performing and project-based learning in the arts industry.  Ovation! is excited by the opportunities this offers our students.

Credits are available from grades 9 through 12 depending on existing pre-requisites within each discipline. Classes are weekly from mid-Sept to end of May each season. O.S.S.D. Credit students do additional project-based work between classes.
