Musical Theatre Production

Who doesn’t love a good musical!??!

Each year our Level 4/5 musical theatre performers have the opportunity to perform a tribute/adaptation of a full musical!  Our senior-level students learn about interesting, insightful, thought-provoking shows/materials from the canon of ‘classic’ and contemporary musical theatre repertoire. 

We adapt pieces to create a fairly balanced training and performance-opportunity for every student. Our training consists of in-studio skill-development (singing, dancing and acting), fluency in the history and tradition of musicals, and performance-oriented rehearsal.  

Each year is something new and vital and we twist and turn the materials, design and casting based on the sensibilities and goals of our students.  We try to match themes to what our students are experiencing in today’s world.   A variety of materials are introduced and our students develop skills in all areas of MT performance, working through solos, duets, trios and full ensemble pieces, all prepping to high on-stage performance standards.  

We also invite Level 3/4 classes to do ‘opening acts’ for the senior musical, so they see what they’re working towards through their own training!  Performing for an audience is critical to help young performers cement their learning and training, and the show each spring is always fantastic!
